John hails from the Midwest; Minneapolis, MN is home.  He attended the University of Minnesota and graduated from the University of St. Thomas in St, Paul, MN with a BA in Business Administration. John worked in the hospitality industry as manager and owner of restaurants.  In addition to serving on the boards for the Restaurant Associations in Minnesota, Austin, TX; Albuquerque, NM and South Carolina; he served on the Hotel Associations for Minnesota, New Mexico, Texas and South Carolina.  John continued his hospitality career by  joining the management teams as hotel general manager for Sheraton, Hilton, Marriott and Hyatt hotels.  John enjoys being active outdoors and volunteering with arts organizations; volunteering as a board member for the Richland/Lexington Arts Council, the Columbia City Ballet; house manager for Spoleto Festival USA, as well as volunteering with the Gaillard and Dock Street Theaters.
